day at the museum

While not as impressive as the Phoenix Children's Museum, the Sacramento Children's Museum didn't disappoint. It is much smaller than the one in Phoenix, which I actually like because there are less places for Little Miss J to run away to. There is an area for the under 3s, as well as an area set up like a grocery store complete with very real looking and feeling fake foods, a dress up area with uniforms for construction workers, mail carriers, fire fighters, a post office complete with boxes and envelopes, etc. My two favorite areas were the painting area and the water play area. Thankfully, Little Miss J managed to not climb into their water tables.

In the arts and crafts area, there is a giant glass wall where kids can paint. Once it gets all filled up with their little masterpieces, it can be hosed down and wiped clean with the squeegee. Here's my little Picasso at work -

Another fun thing was that we ran into one of my coworkers there. Matt the Map Guy was there with his wife and his sons (2.5 years and 4 months). Matt and I have cubicles right next to each other and often share war stories about our active toddlers. It was the first time I had met his wife, who was super friendly and easy to talk to - perhaps we will become better friends.
